تعتبر القراءة من أهم الوسائل التي تُنمّي العقل وتُعزز لدى الإنسان صغيراً كان أم كبيراً القدرات الإدراكية كما أنها تُنشط عمل الدماغ وترفع مستوى الذكاء، وباعتبار الأطفال جزءاً لا يتجزأ من المجتمع يجب الحرص على تربيتهم بصورةٍ صحيحة وتشجيعهم على المطالعة والقراءة لأنهم الجيل الذي يرتكز عليه مستقبل الأمة، فالقراءة تبني شخصية الأطفال وتُفتح أذهانهم وتوسّع قدراتهم العقلية وتزيد الوعي لديهم . وبناء على ذلك أقامت مدارس الحصان النموذجية العالمية رحله للمرحلة الابتدائية بنات إلى معرض الكتاب حرصا منها على أهمية القراءة في هذا العمر المبكر . حيث قامت كل طالبة بشراء كتاب والاستمتاع بالانشطة المصاحبة للمعرض .
